Athletic Eligibility Guidelines
The basic rule is that in order to remain eligible, a student needs a 2.0 with no more than one F grade whenever a school wide report card is issued.
A report card is issued to all students approximately every four to five weeks (see Eligibility Calendar).
If a student falls below a 2.0 grade point average (and/or receives more than 1F grade), they are ineligible. If they attend an intervention program, they may practice, but cannot play in games.
If a student was eligible in the previous grading period and then becomes ineligible (but has passed at least four classes, 20 credits, in the preceding semester) they may have the option (see below) of being put on probation until the next grading period (school wide report card is issued). If they are able to be put on probation and they attend an intervention program, they may still play in contests. The intervention program may consist of signing up with the ASSETS program and attending their after school tutoring sessions. OR it may consist of an individual study program set up by a teacher and/or coach. All intervention programs must be approved by the athletic director. At the end of the grading time period, a student on probation must have their grades back up in order to continue playing. A student may only use an intervention program to practice and/or play with a team, once a year. If a student has previously used an intervention program (whether ineligible or on probation), then they are ineligible.
As long as they have passed at least 4 classes (20 credits) in the preceding semester, students have until the next grading time period (see Eligibility Calendar) to get their grades back up and be reinstated as eligible. Once ineligible, students remain ineligible, until the next time a school wide report card is issued and they have a 2.0 with no more than 1F.
