Graduation
The commencement ceremony is a formal ceremony to celebrate students’ educational accomplishments. The dress attire established for the commencement is to uphold this prestigious occasion. Students who are not properly dressed or violate the dress attire policy will not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony.
All participants are required to dress semi-formal or business attire. No-jeans, tennis shoes, flip flops, or sandals are permitted. For any questions or assistance with attire, please contact the Vice Principal Office.
Please remember that noisemakers, food, drinks, balloons, and leis are not permitted in the stadium.
In addition, students are not permitted to have any signs, writing or decorations on their caps or gowns. Any cultural adornments must be reviewed and approved at least 2 days before the commencement ceremony. Students are not permitted to carry any flowers, balloons, etc. The academic cords from AVID and A-G are the only adornments that may be worn with the cap and gown. Students may not carry a backpack or purse and should arrange for a family member to hold backpacks, purses, or flowers.
The commencement ceremony will be held at the San Juan Stadium. Seating for guests is on a first-come, first-served basis – there is no reserved seating. Please respect the rights of other audience members regarding seating, picture taking, video filming, and noise levels. Still photography and videotaping are restricted to areas that will not block other audience members’ viewing spaces. Lifetouch will be taking individual pictures of each student as their diplomas is awarded.
Parents need to be aware of fines and outstanding debts. All accumulated debt from San Juan High School, as well as any other school that your student has attended, must be paid in full or your student will not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony.
If applicable, attached are past due book fines that will either need to be paid or books returned to the school they were checked out from. All books/Chromebooks for current classes must be kept until May 23rd. Additionally, you may have fines from the finance office on a separate bill. Please see that statement for further information.
Please be aware that we accept cash or money orders only, checks are not accepted after April 1st, and we do not have the capability of accepting credit cards in person. However, you can pay with a credit or debit card online at myschoolbucks.com by creating an account, adding your students using their school name and Student ID number. You will choose “Textbook/Library Fine” or “Sports Uniform Fees” following the instructions onscreen for each item. It is a good idea to take care of these now prior to senior checkout to streamline that process.
San Juan High School staff members’ hope that you will continue to encourage your student to finish the school year on a positive note, making sure that all assignments are completed on time and behavior is acceptable. District and school rules will be enforced before and throughout the commencement ceremony. Students who violate these rules for the school year will not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony.
